The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is an Indian governmental body set up in 1964, to prevent the governmental corruption.

CVC is an apex vigilance institution which monitors all vigilance activity under the central government. It advises various authorities in central government organizations in planning, executing, reviewing and reforming their vigilance work. The Commission has two important posts i.e, a Central Vigilance Commissioner and two Vigilance Commissioners.

Central Vigilance Commission was headed by K. Santhanam in 1964. Nittoor Srinivasa Rau was appointed as the first Chief Vigilance Commissioner of India by K. Santhanam committee.

In 2004, The Government of India has authorized the Central Vigilance Commission as the "Designated Agency", to receive written complaints for disclosure on any allegation of corruption or misuse of office and recommend appropriate action.
